The Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, is the government organisation in charge of monitoring and regulating the aviation industry in the Gambia to accepted international standards and is in charge of national licensing.

GCAA was established as an autonomous body in July, 1991 (under the Public Enterprise Act of 1989). The organisation is responsible among others to issue Air Operator Certificates (AOC). There is currently only one airport in The Gambia.

According to the website ch-aviation a website mainained by a group of Swiss aviation enthusiasts striving to deliver up to date and interesting information and background reports about the airline industry, there are currently 10 airlines registered in The Gambia. However not all are currently active and some are although registered in The Gambia presently not offering flights to or from The Gambia Banjul Yundum International Airport for the public.
