Save money by traveling to The Gambia via Dakar, Senegal
Sometimes it could be financially advantagous to consider travelling through Dakar, Senegal. There are more budget airlines offering cheap flights to and from Dakar to many worldwide destinations, among others Air Algerie, Air Portugal and Tunis Air. Travelling from Banjul to Dakar is possible by Air. But although it is only a 20 min flight the prices are salty. To travel by land is far more cheaper.

Public (bush) taxis, usually passenger cards ready to carry 7 passengers will shuttle from the airport to the Gambia/Senegal border taxi station. There are no fixed schedules. Cars go as they are full. The price is usually paid in CFA.
The short distance of about 2 km from the border to the taxi station is usualy covered by moped taxis. From the border to the river ferry crossing there are Gambian taxis shutteling, either passenger cars or private or the official public bus.
At the Banjul ferry terminal you will find lots of taxis ready to take you to wherever you want.
